Sir,

I am commanded by the Air Council to refer to War Office letter 119/Abroad/1376 (D.L.1.a.) dated 13th June, 1931, relative to the proposal of the Hong Kong Government that the War Department should hand back to them a certain area of land at Hong Kong known as the "Kowloon Peak Military Reserve".

According to information available in the Air Ministry, the South-western boundary of this area abuts upon the aerodrome at Kowloon, which, as the Army Council will be aware, is the only aerodrome available for the defence of the Colony.

The Air Council attach the greatest

importance to maintaining this part of the area free from masts, high buildings or other structure likely to cause obstruction to flying, and they would, therefore, be glad if any agreement to hand back the land in question could be made under conditions that would prevent the erection of such structures within one mile of the boundary of the aerodrome without their

concurrence.

I am to confirm that this Department's previous letter on this subject, numbered as above, and dated 6th August, 1931, should be considered as cancelled.

Admiralty.

A copy of this letter is being sent to the

The Under Secretary of State,

War Office,

S.W.1.

I am, Sir,

Your obedient Servant

(SIGNED)

J.S. ROSS.
